OUR INITIATIVES

Boosting Literacy

Literacy is critical for our kids and their development. When parents read to their kids or when a child reads, it engages them, it fires their imagination, and sparks their curiosity. Every Montana child should have access to reading resources so they can dream, grow, and reach their full potential. The Treasure State Foundation is partnering with Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library which provides a free book each month for any child, ages 0 up to 5 years old, who registers.

Promoting and Expanding Access to STEM education

Increasing opportunities for Montana kids to explore Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) education is a priority. Students who engage in STEM education learn how to solve complex problems, boost their self-confidence, and discover doors to greater opportunities.

Governor’s Residence Renovation

Built in 1959, the governor’s residence is in disrepair, particularly with outdated and unsafe electrical and plumbing systems as well as asbestos. Our priority is making the residence a house of hospitality and ensuring future first families can have safe and comfortable public and private spaces. In 2019, the legislature and the governor provided $1.9 million for renovation and an additional $500,000 in 2021. With rising inflation and high demand in the construction industry that all Montanans are experiencing, the costs for renovation came in higher than was expected. The Treasure State Foundation will help cover some of these unanticipated and added costs by complementing funding the Legislature appropriated in 2021.
